Back Again Just in Time

Well, hello there. Back again after a hiatus but just in time not to allow the mundane silence to cross an year! Well, on ekind of achievement. Last year like the year before and the year before that has been hectic with frenzied back and forth trips. Problems never seem to ebb but flow all the more. Its been a rollercoaster. The travel was good with more trips and more engagements with some enriching experiences. Made a couple of more good friends all around the globe.

Its back to some work which for the first time seems to be engrossing and engaging other than the mundane **** that happens all the time. Life's moved on but in a time warp. The warp zone is something that is to be exited and moved on with when relative comparisons are made.

Will be back with more and for more..hold on!

First Post of 2010 in the latter half

Well...the first post of 2010 where another half crazy year has zipped by! Variations, fluctuations, hallucainations! sheesh! yes. Range of emotions and a rollercoaster ride of frenzy and energy and two trips to the land of dreams. Can't be a more mixed bag for me given work and life are running parallel to catch up with each other...or rather race past each other.

Past few months have literally flew by - sometimes me being the pigeon and sometimes me being the statue - yeah, balance. What a libran is known for right? How else can u surmise and summarise the events that are taking me places personally and professionally.

Swung from buying the iPod/touch/pad to iPaq! Nothing in the basket, and still looking for that one elusive DSLR and trying to frame the perfect hometheater setup back home for ...now its been ages. Drew some inner strength to blog on the work front and got recognized for various stuff ...nothing akin to pranav mistry's sixth sense though.(man, the guy is awesome...and am waiting for the DIY open source tool kit to program my sixth sense...:)) Though, I did try to use my sixth sense, if you can call it that to dig out some ideas but again sustenance is the key which coupled with work always takes a back seat! Get up you lazy bum!

DC,VA,IL,NJ,NY were good enough to host me and I enjoyed being hosted! (PJ!) Getting used to a different kind of lifestyle but cannot forget the roots back home and the string attached. Once done, I am waiting to bounce back and bounce back it will be. This too shall pass and time will come for everyone to showcase their own muscle power in their own ways.

Till such time...YVT...

What I’ve Discovered About Twitter

This is a post to contribute to the experiment by Esteban and Venessa for the #MonTwit.

Though, I started off with Twitter, skeptically, very I should say I have grown to learn and love the app. Initially I found it very boring until I got to know Ray Wang, Esteban, Mark Tamis and ahost of others - a long list - via this medium. Neve thought that I could not live w/o putting in a tweet a day! :) A tweet a day keeps me happy!!! Got introduced to some good insights by @prem_k, @sidmishra and a host of others via Twitter.

The most important part about twitter was the seamless and continous flow of information, thoughts, insights, links about my interests that hooked me on much more. It has become a one-stop knowledge shop for me. Augmented reality was introduced by twitter to me -u cud say that! Never knew. Long before I realised, my company gave me the opportunity to interact via this medai and I could not find a better way to gather topics for my "T" discussions (*grin*). Where does this fellow get all and so much information, they ask :).

But, also i love the way the network works in this simple interface. 140 is just enuf to say what i want and jus enuf to say what i don't want too! I like the RT feature though I haven't dabbled much in the Twitter apps. Did use Klout, twitter counter and others though and had fun. Till date am still learning and there can't be a better Knowledgebase for me along with being an iterface to interact with the industry.

What has been your twitter experience? Share the same and let me/us know. Tweet with #montwit

Need for pressing organizational change

Getting up and dusting yourself? A question every business needs to answer. The past year and fiscal have been tough for a majotiy of them around the world, irrespective of the caste, creed and nationality (unity in diveristy ...eh?). At the next inflection point which will be prolonged due to a number of reasons - the climate talk being one- it is time to look into reoganizing and re-fitting the business processes and bring about an organizational change. It is imperative to understand and readapt to the new environment which is much more social(! yeah i like that!), relevant, challenging, opportunity-based, innovation-craved and more public-eye exposed.

Every step being watched and every new task being more competitive in the market, what is it that will differentiate your business? It is change again which alone can tackle these challengin times. Refusing to accept and staying in the comfort of your coccoon will only help you hibernate and lag behind by "ages", when the next year comes by.

Go out and change and lead the way!

It's a wet and gloomy day in B'lore

Yeah...and in Karnataka too. A peace on a 6-point formula has been arrived at the state govt. level after intervention from its parent party. Hope this gets resolved soon and such bickerings don't hurt the state of the people. The recent damage that the floods have created is far beyond measure. Though from Nov 8th the govt. is to start off again on this front, the extensive damage to physical and mental health of people affected cannot be forgotten. This cannot be reversed! If there is sincere concern then this needs double the effort and get the chances of an epidemic in such climactic conditions becoming minor. Many, and god knows how many and where, are suffering in the pathetic conditions. The city conditions are no better with the civic amenities waking up only after the storm has hit rather than send the concerned to the bunker when there are enough signs of one. Hope ! is what remains and will take the afflicted out of their misery.

Geethasaram

today was speaking to colleagues about an engraving on a ring; which a happy man on seeing would lose his happiness and a sad man on seeing would lose his sorrow. The engraving was - This too shall pass! That is when during the discussion got to knw about the geethasaram where lord krishna preaches arjuna on the kurukshetra during the epic mahabharata battle on the essence of life. interestingly though we went on diverse rants and thoughts of hope, pandora's box, admiration, flattery, human tendency etc..it sounded like a compromise to me. But my colleague was of the opinion that you need to do what you have to and not expect anythin in return. interesting....change is the only constant thing is what it says....

advertising and ethics

today came across the news of a 26 yr old man suing HUL on its AXE brand of product. its amusing though how he loyally followed the ad and tried to woo girls and finally got hit by the maid by a broom when he tried to entice her. thats the funny side. on the serious side of it, are advertisements just another big bloat up of the capabilities of products? maybe yes maybe no. lets take the surf ka safedi ad and check how many ppl agree to the claims made or lux or dove or many other brands. with greater visibility and a greater market share come greater responsibility and greater heed to cater to the right need of the customer. This case will also vanish from the public mind BUT, remember that these brands are here to stay and they will innovate and grow again. Will anyone buy it, yeah! why not supply and demand u c. But the final caveat is the fact that the brand and the co. name have taken a beating. its very essential to handle this irritating matter very subtly and come up with an ad that re-inforces the trust on that brand. How? well am not paid to say that :-)

Tough times

In these times of constant volatility, uncertainty ( the sensex has come down to under 16k!) it is ever more important to recognize self-strengths and work towards being nimble and agile. This is very similar to the entire span - called life - where every step is uncertain. Plans go awry sometimes, no matter what you take care of. Sometimes there is no 100% result and its always < that.
In these tough times, is when the strength of will and character come into picture. It is the never say die attiitude of the indivdual that helps... hang on...This too shall Pass!

Thoughts - A Second Life

today was speaking to an elderly colleague who got a second chance at life after a bypass surgery. The outlook of life has changed before and after. Everyone experiences such an inflection point am sure which takes you further one step to the realisation of being alone and all that you strive for in this material world is for.....?

thoughts?
